Aitana Tour 2026 Cycling March Regulations
The fifth edition of AITANA TOUR is a non-competitive cycling march organized by Club Deportivo Aitana Tour (hereinafter, the "Organization"), which will be held on May 31, 2026 in the municipality of Callosa d'en Sarrià, province of Alicante, in the Costa Blanca area, and will run along different roads in said province (hereinafter, the "March" or the "V edition of Aitana Tour", indistinctly).
Article 1.- Regulations
The V edition of AITANA TOUR is a cycling sport event regulated under article 9 of the Cycle Tourism-Cycling for All Regulations of the Royal Spanish Cycling Federation (the "RFEC"), that is, as a cycling sport event with an appreciable degree of difficulty (mileage or elevation) and where participation and individual effort represent a motivation for personal improvement. Participants will be identified with numbers or plates on their bicycle. A census of all participants who finish the March will be established, and medals with kilometer certificate and approximate time invested in completing the route will be delivered, all within the framework of a cycling specialty that conceives this sport as physical exercise for leisure and tourist or cultural purposes.
The March is subject to the provisions of annex II of Royal Decree 1428/2003, of November 21, which approves the General Traffic Regulations for the application and development of the articulated text of the Law on traffic, circulation of motor vehicles and road safety, approved by Legislative Royal Decree 339/1990, of March 2; Instruction 16/TV-91 on modification of the processing of sports events and cycling marches, Circular 18/TV-101 of the General Directorate of Traffic on regulation of sports events, as well as any other regulation, resolution or instruction in force issued by the competent authority in matters of traffic, circulation and road safety.
IMPORTANT: Participants, by the mere fact of registering for the V edition of Aitana Tour, declare to know and expressly accept the mentioned regulations, committing to their strict compliance and exempting the organization from all responsibility derived from personal non-compliance with any of said provisions.
The March will be disputed with closed traffic in the space between the authority agents carrying the red and green flags, and participants must circulate without invading the opposite lane. The ordinary circulation sections will remain open to general traffic.
At all times participants must respect the orders of the Civil Guard Traffic Group agents and the organization members.
These regulations are reviewed and approved by the competent authorities, in accordance with current legislation.
Article 2.- Route, schedule, date and location
Available routes
The V edition of AITANA TOUR will take place on May 31, 2026, with a single distance of 165 kilometers and 3,400 meters of accumulated elevation gain (the "Gran Fondo Route"), giving participants the option and/or obligation by the control point to reduce the distance to 100 kilometers and 1,900 m of accumulated elevation gain (the "Medio Fondo Route") when passing through the finish line in the first half of the route.
Control point
The Route will have a control point, where any participant who does not feel strong enough to complete the full route can cut short and divert towards the finish or has chosen this option when registering (the "Control Point"). The Control Point will be set at kilometer 99.8 of the route located in the town of Callosa d'en Sarrià on the CV-715 road. The cut-off time at the Control Point will be at 12:15 PM (5:45h from the start - approximately 18 km/h average), therefore whoever arrives after that time must obligatorily stay at the finish, without being able to complete the Gran Fondo Route.
Age restrictions
The March is open to any cyclist over 18 years of age completed before the day of the event. Likewise, cyclists over 70 years old may not participate in the Gran Fondo Route and 75 years old in the Medio Fondo Route.
Traffic will be controlled, but open, which obliges participants to respect road traffic rules at all times.
Article 3.- Cut-off points and recommendation
The V edition of Aitana Tour is a NON-COMPETITIVE event, for which a total average speed of about 25 km/h has been established and can be altered at any time under Civil Guard requirements.
The March will be "neutralized" at a constant speed depending on the elevation to try as much as possible that the largest number of participants are within the safety capsule.
Timed sections
During the Medio Fondo Route there will be two timed sections and in the Gran Fondo Route four, and in each of them the speed will be free, allowing each rider to accelerate according to their capabilities. Once the timed section is finished, the speed will be controlled again according to the March parameters.
Safety capsule
The group of participants will be accompanied by the Civil Guard between red and green flags (safety capsule), bearing in mind that if the green flag overtakes the participants, they will be outside the safety capsule but not the March, being able to finish respecting all traffic rules as a normal user on public roads.
Broom wagon
There will be a broom wagon at the end of the peloton to accompany the last stragglers who have been overtaken by the green flag, and to pick up any participant who wishes to abandon.
The total average speed of the broom wagon will be about 18 km/h, thus allowing any participant to finish the March supported by it in a maximum of 8 hours. If the broom wagon overtakes the participant, they will become a normal user of public roads being excluded from the March coverage, as well as finish time control. The Organization is not responsible in case the broom wagon advances ahead of the scheduled time.
Recommended times
- Medio Fondo Route: recommended between 3 and 5 hours
- Gran Fondo Route: recommended between 5 and 8 hours
Finish times
- Approximate Medio Fondo finish: 2:30 PM
- Approximate Gran Fondo finish: 4:00 PM
A maximum time to complete the March of 8:30 hours for the Gran Fondo Route and 7:00h for the Medio Fondo Route is established.
Regroupings
The Organization, by order of the authority agents, may perform regroupings (except in timed sections) during the course of the march, in order not to harm the safety of all participants.
The Route will be clearly signposted with the help of a system of arrows and panels. The Organization will make available at www.aitanatour.com, the GPX files of the route, being recommended for cyclists who have a GPS terminal.
Article 4.- Feed stations and mechanical service
Feed stations
The Organization will provide 4 solid feed stations and 1 liquid in the Gran Fondo Route and 3 feed stations and 1 liquid in the Medio Fondo Route. All feed stations will be dismantled when the broom wagon passes the feed station.
In addition, at the finish there will be a great meal for all participants at the end of the March. Companions who wish may purchase a wristband to eat and access the meal area and pool, previously at www.aitanatour.com while registrations are available, or at the expo area on the March weekend at a higher cost.
Mechanical service
During the March there will be medical assistance, mechanical and participant support cars, as well as ambulances with doctors, nurses and Civil Protection.
Mechanical assistance will be treated as a courtesy service, so in case of breakdown of a registered participant, labor and inner tube replacement will be free. Any other spare parts will be at the participant's expense. Only repairs that can be solved on the route will be considered. All participants must carry spare parts and be self-sufficient.

In these cases other than the RFEC license, the user will assume payment of the mandatory insurance price to participate in the March. Participation in the event is under the responsibility and own risk of the participants.
Insurance for non-federated participants
